Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but obsessive young scientist who becomes consumed by the idea of creating life. Through secret experiments, he brings to life a powerful but grotesque being referred to as the Creature or Monster. Horrified by what he’s made, Victor abandons it, leaving the Creature to navigate the world alone. The Creature, initially gentle and eager for companionship, is repeatedly rejected and mistreated because of his appearance. Growing bitter and lonely, he confronts Victor and demands that he create a female companion for him. Enraged by Victor’s refusal, the Creature vows revenge.

The novel explores themes of ambition, responsibility, isolation, creation, prejudice, and the consequences of playing god—making it one of the earliest and most influential works of science fiction.
